a bad time

Copyright 2004 by sketchblogs.com All Rights ReservedMe and time are hardly in synch today... We started off holding hands because I did make my appointment on the dot, which was fifteen minutes before the actual time I had to be there. A new one for me. But it went down hill from there. As soon as I sit down at my computer and decide to let go.. don't you know time lets go too. And it keeps going and going and going. fast. express. "Just one more minute," was all I could say. But then time didn't listen.. It never does. Just does it's own thing. Meanwhile I'm doing my own thing with a little less time to do it in. I seriously need to organize my time so that I don't always feel like I'm running out of it, from it, behind it... you know the drill.

How did I get a day behind?

Copyright 2004 by sketchblogs.com All Rights Reserved

Einstein was right ...
time is relative;
relatively ... fast,
rushing through,
ruling my life.. lately.
High time I'm catching up after a mad dash through the month. Today I am finally able to post in real time .i.e. before the day is half way over. So now my blogs don't masquerade themselves as a day behind. Today I'm serving it up hot and fresh and at a decent hour.

Now back to relativity because real time for me is after five and counting... Anything with the word morning in front of it is hard for me to do except for a donut or coffee. I never could figure out all those bright shiny faces at 7 AM. But then I am an owl. And being a night owl and such tis normal for me to post at 11 pm or later. eek! The end of your day is maybe like the middle of mine.

I'm not really amp-ed up until long after darkness falls and pieces of moonlight scatter over the prairie. Then the words will come out and play, in the undisturbed stillness of a quiet night. Then I am free to let my mind take me to wherever we may go. I don't have to be somewhere. Time goes away when we go wherever, and I could stay and stay and stay unless sleep is a pain like hunger. Even I dread staying up way past reason, when my creativity begins to flicker and my energy begins to fade. Then and only then can I cut out the light. Then it is .....
Time to go...
to bed.

pretzel*ed

Copyright 2004 by sketchblogs.com All Rights Reserved
Today I am twisted into a hot pretzel.
Do this, do that.
Go here, stop there.
Where?
is my laid back life
like I'm looking for..
And now I'm heated
cause it was cold out
and I cut the heater on
and now I'm about to toast
and I cannot relax
in a self induced wave of heat.
I should be banished to
a tub of fragrant water
until I unwind.
But first I have to cool off.

tails

Today a big surprise... More like not expecting to see so many ponytails. It's not like it was rainy, and only a sneaky wind. But when I pulled my hair back into a ponytail, I wasn't expecting to see so many others had pulled theirs' back too. What a clip or band can do to pull a girl together.

note that... It's a little hard to sketch people without someone thinking you're a starer, glarer, gawk..er. The rear view of the ponytail makes it easier to observe without being observed unless the ponytail you're observing just happens to be across the table from someone who would finger you. With four eyes glaring back, it's good to copy their motions, look over your shoulder and act like you are not now the center of their conversation. Wishing you didn't have a ponytail...so you could pull the hair down over your eyes.

We're Talkin' **cookies**

Copyright 2004 by sketchblogs.com All Rights Reserved

There must'a been something in the yesterday's batter cause...One good whiff of that wild aroma and...
Now I really rattle... so imagine ..
If we ( me and the cookies) had a conversation, it would'a went like this...

Rude Cookie
Take a picture. It'll last longer.

Me
(salivating)
Longer than you.

Loud Cookie
Get me a brew; it's hot in here.

Me
I do not cook with alcohol.

Shallow Cookie
Scoot hon. You're blockin' my light... and my view.

Me
Like I don't think you pay any bills around here.

Bachelor Cookie
Girl you got it goin' on.

Me
Like you don't need to tell me that.

Shallow Cookie
I think he was talking to me.

Curious Cookie
How much does a sheet equal?

Me
You do the math on that one.

Then an incredibly rude cookie opened its big mouth and said ...

Incredibly Rude Cookie
How much did you pay for that mitt?
zero cents?

Me
(rhyming)
Hey dude.. you are like so incredibly rude.

Bachelor Cookie
And you are so hot.

Shallow Cookie
Not as hot as me!

Me
he he

*ouch*

Rude Cookie
Did you pay for that cut?

Shallow Cookie
You call that a cut?

Loud Cookie
Did somebody say butt?

Me
(thinks)
Like I am a nut.

Me
(to cookies)
Like I think it's time for you to leave.

Me
( to myself )
Like no I did not just talk to a cookie.

Then it's gets ugly but I'll spare you the details since...

*yum*

*. .. ... ... ..... crumbs*

batter up!

*Another one of my fun adventures in no carb-land*Copyright 2004 by sketchblogs.com All Rights Reserved

Three words.
Chocolate. Walnut. Cookies.
I knew I shouldn't have.
I blame myself. I'm the one who bought the batter. The picture on the packaging was so real; I could taste them. The ad guy and the baker girl did their job. Or is that the ad girl and the baker guy? Either way...

I felt naughty inching the package off the shelf. I tossed a look over both shoulders.. checking the aisle for gawk-ers.. spies.. the carb patrol. And other nuts, feeling just like me feeling just like a kid sneaking a cookie out of the cook-ie jar.

And don't you know, I'm leaving the store minus two dollars in my purse, plus another milli-inch on my hips. And what was I thinking, when I was thinking.. that "After I bake these babies, I'll only test one." .... Ha!
Ha. Ha.

Now. Let's do the math.
Starting with my zero sense.
Chocolate chips+ walnuts + oil + eggs
plus various other ingredients only a geek could pronounce.
Don't hate me, I'm a geek too. And it's just like the geek in me to rattle off in the middle of a sentence,
or.. is.. it?

Anyway..
crucial ingredients (all 75 or so )
plus 35 sweet hot minutes in the oven
equals
a sheet full of "Yes I am packed with carbs"
c-o-o-k-i-e-s!

One word.

Sucker!

back outs

Copyright 2004 by sketchblogs.com All Rights ReservedToday I was able to get back outside. And speaking of backing out, I remember when we used to call halters.. back outs or halter tops. I can see it now, "Ooo! She's wearing a back out!" pointing at some poor girl like that was the crime of spring quarter back in junior high school. I could use a back out today because it's back to being sixty, seventy, eighty.. again. And the back of my cell phone fell off, and I haven't seen it since I don't know when.. and I guess it's got a back out too!

Todays' Forecast

Copyright 2004 by sketchblogs.com All Rights Reserved

Cold. Rain. Wind.
Again.
And all
this rain
makes a girl wanna wash her hair.
But that's about as bouncy as it
gets, considering the fact that trying to style wouldn't even be worth it. Cause I'm not in the mood to go through all that heavy lifting just to hide it under a cap or umbrella. I will only wear a hat if no blow dryer or curling iron is involved. So I think today's forecast is braids, a bun, or partly covered.

The End of Summer

Copyright 2004 by sketchblogs.com All Rights ReservedToday was split into shades of gray, the clouds, the rain, and the wet pavement. Below fifty, overcast, and a sunless sky.  Not like the end of summer at all. Not like yesterday when the sky was blue and yellow glow was everywhere.  Not like hovering at eighty on the thermometer and ducking the wind.  No bare feet today. But I wore my hat out in the drizzle.  And I better find some socks to cover my toes. Cause I'm taking cover from the cold, the rain, and the end of summer.
