Being the night owl that I am, I fluttered around way past two. But I wasn't the only animal out and about late last night. Outside my window, there was a whole lot of howling goin' on. First the coyotes, then the wind, which turned out to be even scarier than a pack of wild hungry dogs. Maybe because the wind didn't start its' howl until two seconds after I pulled the covers over my shoulder. At first I thought it was a machine, then an engine. Reluctantly, I eased out of the warming covers of my bed, sifted through the darkness, and peeked between the blinds to see if anything was blowing around. It was. And I was just glad it wasn't me.
This morning when I woke up, the wind was still ripping. Ripping through air that felt like it was exhaled from a hot balloon. But it does make the grasses sing. And I hear it's going to snow tomorrow, at least at 7000 feet, and I think some of that snow may make its way down here. And I think that maybe the howl of the wind isn't so bad after all. WooHoo.. the wind!

the wind was bad for us a day or two ago ... so bad i thought we were going to have to "wizard of oz" it down the storm door! but we didn't ...
it's raining today, but cold enough that it could start snowing soon ... bummer. not ready for fall to be done when it's barely started.

I like this sketch alot. The thin lines are very complementary to the wispy-ness of it all.
